City Restriped Crosswalk on E. 1St and Washington

City staff restriped the crosswalk at E. 4th Street and Washington Street this week. Street team members Curtis Waller and Dylan Mills applied new thermoplastic street striping on the existing crosswalk to improve the visibility of the crosswalk to passing motorists.

The intersection is heavily utilized by school children waking to and from Washington Middle School.
Thermoplastic striping materials are specifically engineered for durability and safety and provide a reflective pavement marking solution designed to enhance safety and visibility for pedestrians.

Parks & Recreation Department Weekly Report

Vegetation management efforts continue at the Porterfield Creek Preserve. Phase 2 of the fire fuel reduction project for the park began this week. The Northern Sonoma County Fire Fuels Crew is focusing on the East side of Porterfield Creek adjacent to Sonoma Drive with the goal of creating a fire line/break and reducing ladder fuels to protect homes around the park. All debris accumulated from this effort will be chipped and broadcast on onsite.  The project is scheduled to continue through next week.

Another critical  project was completed at the Open Space this week. Parks staff received several community inquiries regarding a large section of dead vegetation near the ‘welcome’ bridge on the main trail. The project was performed in collaboration with the Cloverdale Fire District and volunteers from AmeriCorps.

Parks staff continues to address all park maintenance inquires, arborist requests as well as working closely with our local baseball and little league groups as the season officially gets underway.

Housing Element Survey (English)
Housing Element Survey (Espanol)

Information about the survey was also provided to residents by mail and door hangers.

Background

All cities in the State of California are required to maintain a General Plan and Housing Element, which is one of the required chapters of the General Plan. Unlike other components of the General Plan, which can be adopted within a flexible time frame (and generally occur every 15- 20 years), Housing Elements are required to be updated 8 years. The updated Housing Element will cover the period from 2023-2031.

The City’s next housing element will layout housing goals and strategies for the next 8 years. Its important to get public input from residents and stakeholders during the preparation of the Housing Element.  For more information and current updates, please visit the City's website:
