Crocker Road Pedestrian Bridge Project Update

Sonoma County Transportation and Public Works (TPW) Department continues to make progress on the Crocker Road Bike and Pedestrian Bridge Project. TPW's geotechnical team was at the bridge site this last week collecting soil samples.

According to TPW Director Johannes Hoevertsz, partnerships with Caltrans, Army Corps of Engineers, State Water Quality Control Board, California Fish and Wildlife, PRMD, and the City of Cloverdale have been invaluable to address the aggressive schedule required to deliver this project. City staff including Senior Water Operator Darren Hernandez and Parks Superintendent Hector Galvan assisted TPW to expedite and facilitate the soil sampling work by the geotechnical team.

Once completed, the bike and pedestrian project  will provide a vital link between the rural east side of the Russian River and the city of Cloverdale and Highway 101.

Drought Update

Early winter storms have brought a sight of relief to drought parched landscapes in Norther Sonoma County. Storage levels in Lake Mendocino are continuing to increase with the inflows from the recent storms exceeding the outflows. Reservoirs levels are expected to be in excess of 28,000 Acre-feet (AF) by the end of the week. Despite the positive news, the reservoir level of Lake Mendocino is well below the target storage levels of approximately 55,000 A.F. for this time of year.

Reservoir Storage and Operations
Lake Mendocino: 28,965 acre feet (af) on 12/23/21, up from 21,285 af on 12/10/21 (7680 af gain)

Please continue to to you part to save water. With the cooler winter temperatures, it a good time to turn off all outdoor irrigation systems!

County Parks Installing Restrooms at Cloverdale River Park

Sonoma County Parks Department is in the process of installing new restrooms at the northern side of Cloverdale River Park. The restrooms are in the finals stages of permit approval with Permit Sonoma.

Sonoma County procured a contractor and currently anticipates final permit approval by Mid-January. The restroom installation and other associated improvements should be completed by Mid-February weather permitting. The packaged restroom facilities are staged in the Park's parking area for now waiting to be installed. City Park staff assisted County Parks with providing barricades, signage and delivery/offloading of the restrooms.
