Cloverdale Police Department  Apprehends Armed Robbery Suspect

On December 6, 2021, Cloverdale Police initiated an investigation into the armed robbery that occurred at the Quick Stop and developed information that led to the identity and whereabouts of the suspect, Roman Jose Soto 32, Santa Rosa.

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, Cloverdale Police responded to an address in the 3000 block of Common Way in Santa Rosa and located a White Acura Infinity G37 sedan, registered to Roman Soto, parked in front of the residence. The vehicle matched the same make, model, and color of the vehicle observed on surveillance cameras leaving the Quick Stop moments after the robbery.

Cloverdale Police, along with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, maintained constant surveillance on the residence and the vehicle pending the authorization of a search warrant. At approximately 5:11 PM, Soto was observed exiting the residence and walking toward the vehicle.  Sheriff’s Deputies converged on the vehicle and detained Soto without incident.

During a search of the suspect's residence, Cloverdale officers located several items of evidence connecting Soto to the crime.  Based on the evidence seized, Cloverdale Police arrested Soto for armed robbery, possession of a firearm with no serial number, and felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked at the Sonoma County Main Jail where his bail was set at $500,000.  The Cloverdale Police Department would like to thank the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during the investigation.

COVID-19 Update

Please take a moment to check out these important COVID-19 resources and updates from the County of Sonoma:

Masking Requirements in Sonoma County

Indoor masking requirements in Sonoma County, including its exemptions for indoor dining and some stable groups of fully vaccinated people, remain unchanged under a new statewide mask mandate from the California Department of Public Health.

CDPH will allow counties such as Sonoma, which has required facial coverings in most indoor public settings since August, to maintain their existing health orders around masking. This means that some workplaces, gyms, churches and other organizations in Sonoma County will continue to have the option of allowing stable cohorts of fully vaccinated people to remove their masks indoors, if the organizations verify vaccination status and qualify under other terms of an October 2021 amendment to the county health order.

Masks may also be removed while actively eating or drinking indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

Testing
COVID-19 testing is widely available throughout Sonoma County. Residents are encouraged to make use of testing before family and other gatherings over the holidays. PCR test results are often available in 24 hours.

The County of Sonoma issued a freeze warning in response to the National Weather Service’s prediction for freezing overnight lows expected through Sunday morning. There will be 53 winter beds available on a first-come, first-served basis, with many offering wraparound services as well.

Reach For Home in northern Sonoma County will open nine additional beds when the temperature falls below 38 degrees or two or more days of rain occurs. The shelter is open to adults and families. HUD requires Countys receiving federal Continuum of Care homeless services funding to conduct point-in-time data collection on the number of homeless people living in their community in order to remain eligible for this funding. Over $3 million in Continuum of Care funding comes into Sonoma County annually to assist our local efforts to end homelessness.

This year, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, like everything else in our lives, the Point-in-Time (PIT) will look a bit different as we seek to ensure the safety of volunteers and those experiencing homelessness. In order to volunteer,  please sign up with ONLY members of your household/social unit (pod) to ensure everyone’s safety.
