Cloverdale City Council Considers Allocation of American Rescue Plan Funds

The Cloverdale City Council is considering allocation of approximately $2.0 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to provide relief from public health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) into law on March 11 to:

  1. Support immediate economic stabilization for households and businesses;
  2. Address systemic public health and economic challenges that have contributed to the unequal impact of the pandemic;
  3. Support urgent COVID-19 response efforts to continue to decrease spread of the virus and bring the pandemic under control;
  4. And replace lost revenue for eligible state, local, territorial, and Tribal governments to strengthen support for vital public services and help retain jobs.

The Cloverdale City Council is actively considering how to allocate the ARPA funding.  Current funding priorities supported by the City Council include using the funding for critical water and sewer infrastructure projects. Please send your ideas on how to allocate the ARPA funding to the Cloverdale City Council  by e-mailing the City Council at the following address: citycouncilmembers@ci.cloverdale.ca.us

Don’t Let an Earthquake Catch You Off Guard!

The California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) launched the first ever statewide public earthquake warning system, Earthquake Warning California.

Californians can receive earthquake warnings with the state’s free MyShake App, which can be downloaded on the Apple App Store or Google Play on smartphones or tablets. The MyShake App is currently available in English and Spanish, with other languages in the works. The technology links mobile devices with ground sensors to send warnings to those in the nearby area when significant shaking is detected so that individuals have a few extra moments to take protective actions, such as to drop, cover, and hold on.

The MyShake App is an app that sends warnings to mobile device users. Users receive warnings for earthquakes in their region for earthquakes that are expected to be 4.5 magnitude or larger. The application can be downloaded on the Apple App Store or Google Play and is currently available in both English and Spanish.

Help Make Sonoma County's Streets Safer!

Last year, 200 people were killed or seriously injured on Sonoma County roads. We can end that. That’s why the Sonoma County Department of Health Services and the Sonoma County Transportation Authority are teaming up to create Sonoma County Vision Zero—to bring traffic deaths and injuries down to zero.

You can help! They have created a short survey for people to show where (and how) we should focus our efforts to make our streets safe for bikers, walkers, rollers, drivers—everyone!

Share your ideas, and share the survey with folks you know!
