Parks and Maintenance Update

Park staff continues completing maintenance projects throughout the City including within our Lighting & Landscape District zones.

  • The maintenance highlight of the week took place in the Lighting & Landscape District Zone 6 Brookside Terrace. Parks staff performed preventative maintenance pruning on all trees to prevent a hazard incident. Pruning and hedging was completed on all shrubs and ornamental plants located at the district in addition to regular scheduled irrigation inspections. A 3” layer of woodchips was distributed throughout the district in an effort to retain soil moister and limit water use under current drought restrictions.
  • Parks staff also responded to several City Arborist requests and completed irrigation repairs at Furber Park.

Clarification on Joint Council Planning Commission Workshop

On July 15th,the City conducted a joint workshop with the City Council and Planning Commission. At the workshop, the City’s consultant Placeworks presented two hypothetical development projects in the Downtown area. The projects were located on two key vacant lots downtown. As point of clarification, these projects were hypothetical, and designed to inform the community about possible updates to the Downtown Commercial Zoning Code.  There are no plans by the City or property owners to construct either of these two buildings or projects. Any development project would be required to complete the planning process, including public hearings at the Planning Commission.

During the planning process, the community will be given an opportunity to provide additional input on the project.   For more information about the project including a copy of the Draft Findings Memo prepared by Placeworks, please click on the following link: Downtown and Transit Oriented Zoning Update | Cloverdale, CA - Official Website
Please contact Kevin Thompson, Assistant City Manager/Community Development Director at kthompson@ci.cloverdale.ca.us if you have questions or comments.
