Lake Pillsbury Water Storage Levels

Russian River Watershed Experiencing Drought Conditions

The City of Cloverdale relies on water wells near the Russian River for its water supply. Due to lower than normal rainfall amounts this year, the Russian River watershed is experiencing drought conditions.  The region is facing the third driest year on record.  Reservoir capacities in Lake Mendocino and Lake Pillsbury are lower than they were during the last drought, which was 2013/2014.  For more information about the impacts of low rainfall on the Russian River this year visit this page on the Sonoma Water website.

Due to the low amount of rainfall received this year, its important to take measures now to reduce water use. Every drop saved by our customers helps improve water flows in the Russian River and extend reservoir storage levels should a longer dry period be experienced. Sonoma County’s vaccination campaign will phase into the third-party administrator, Blue Shield, purview on Monday, March 7. California Schools Reopening Plan

This week, Governor Newsom announced a $6.6 billion budget package to accelerate the safe return to in-person instruction across California. The funds would finance safety measures to support in-person instruction, expanded learning opportunities, such as summer school, tutoring and mental health services. All public schools would be required to offer in-person instruction to grades K-2 for all students and for high-needs students in all grades by the end of March, losing 1 percent of eligible funds every day thereafter if they do not. Before reopening for in-person instruction, eligible schools serving grades TK-6 are required to submit their COVID-19 Safety Plan to state and local health officials for review and approval, and to make the approved plan available online.
