2nd Street Park Accessibility Project

2nd Street Park Accessibility Project Begins Soon

The 2nd Street Park is the crown jewel of the Cloverdale Park system, but also the oldest of the all the parks. We are pleased to announce the park will be getting some improvements making it more accessible to everyone.  The City was awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to fund the project, which includes the addition of new paved paths leading to both the picnic and kids play structure area and repaving portions of the basketball court.  In addition to the CDBG grant funding, the City is also contributing some parks funds for this much needed project.

The City hired Moe Engineering to provide project management who will oversee the entire process. WestPac Construction from Healdsburg has been awarded the contract to complete the construction phase.  The project is expected to early to start early this spring and take approximately three weeks to complete.  We look forward to making 2nd Street Park even better! If you have any questions, please contact Kevin Thompson, Assistant City Manager, at (707) 894-1723 or kthompson@ci.cloverdale.ca.us.

Fall Leaf Collection

Seasonal Leaf Collection

The Parks Department spent a significant amount of time this week performing seasonal leaf collection. Although staff is relieved to finally see measurable rain, it also initiates further leaf-fall throughout City Parks and L&L Districts. The last two weeks, Parks staff concentrated on removing leaves in all City parks. The process included blowing off the leaves into the street and then clearing them with the street sweeper. We make an effort to mulch some of the leaves inside the parks as well, which benefits the turf. A total of 25 additional yards of mulch was accumulated, that will later be sent to Recology to grind into compost. With the new Shelter in Place Order for Sonoma County allowing parks and playgrounds to remain open, the department has been busy keeping up sanitation and supplies at each location.
