Sales Tax Rates

The retail tax rate for the City of Cloverdale is 8.5%. The tax rates are as follows:

• 7.25% California state sales tax
• 1.25% Sonoma County local (voter enacted) sales taxes

The local sales tax consists of a 1.00% City of Cloverdale sales tax and voter enacted 1.25% special district sales taxes used to fund the Sonoma County Open Space District (0.25%), Sonoma County Transportation Authority - Measure M (0.25%), the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit Train (0.25%) Sonoma County Library System - Measure Y (0.125%), Sonoma County Mental Health (0.25%) and Sonoma County Parks (0.125%).

The City of Cloverdale contracts with MuniServices to perform sales tax reporting and sales tax auditing for the City. MuniServices prepares Quarterly Sales Tax Summaries that highlight key sales tax information including the top 25 sales tax generators in the City. In addition, the Summaries identify trends within the primary retail sales business sectors.
